"Basically, it's a raw wood with a little bit of stains on them. Wiping with a clean cloth would be enough to clean them. You can use fine steel wool to clean the dirt and the grime on the fret once in a while to shine them back. The linseed oil, lemon oil, or 3 in 1 oil help conditioning the woods to prevent them from cracking, especially if you live in a very dry area like Arizona. Though, be careful you don't cause a massive build-up of extra oil on the board which otherwise would get really slimy!"
